Thurstaston, CH61 0HN
Overlooked by Wirral Country Park and a stone’s throw from the Wirral Way. The sandy beach is popular with dog walkers and families and is accessed by steep steps. Flissy’s Coffee Shop is on hand for refreshments and the most convenient parking is pay and display in the country park.
West Kirby, South Parade, West Kirby, CH48 0QG
Easy to access, flat and sandy (though compact), beach by the marine lake in West Kirby. Good for children and is well served with ice cream vans and fish and chip stalls. Great walks along the coast to Hoylake Beach or over to Hilbre Island at low tide. It’s worth checking the tide times as the sea can seemingly ‘disappear ’completely from view when out. Similarly, the area is notorious for mud flats and can pose a danger if care isn’t taken. Free parking is available along West Kirby front.
Hoylake, CH47
Vast, open sandy beach with views to Hilbre Island and beyond. It is more peaceful than West Kirby and is great for walking, kite flying, sandcastles, sunsets and strolling the promenade. There is free parking along the seafront on Meols Parade. Please be conscious of tide times and stay to marked areas as there are pockets quicksand.
New Brighton, Marine Promenade, New Brighton, Wirral, CH45 2JU
Large, sandy beach with views over the Mersey estuary to the Liverpool skyline. Perch Rock Fort and Perch Rock Lighthouse are historical points of interest and the promenade boasts of being the longest in the UK, at just over 2 miles. There is a large selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs in New Brighton, as well the Royal Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Palace Amusement Arcade, outdoor crazy golf, and recently built Marine Point leisure complex all on hand.
