We welcome you to our Wirral properties, Spring Cottage or May Escape. Spring Cottage is in rural Parkgate and May Escape only 3 miles away in suburban Heswall.

We would like to introduce ourselves and provide some information about the two properties and places of interest which can be found locally. With a desire for a more rural location and the needs of a young child to consider, we moved from Liverpool to the Wirral in 2018 and have discovered that it provides us with endless entertainment and pleasure. There is so much to see and do, and with so many opportunities waiting to be discovered we really do feel spoilt for choice.

We love nature and the great outdoors, enjoying walking and cycling, and with so many footpaths and cycle trails in the area we are still finding new and exciting ways to explore.

The Wirral Way is a popular choice for many and serves as a fantastic, road free connection to other villages and towns on the Wirral Peninsula, but if you have the time and energy there are many lovely, hidden footpaths, tracks and trails in the area, many of which connect directly to the Wirral Way itself.

There are woodlands, beaches, marshlands, nature reserves, formal gardens, castles and much more, all on your doorstep. If you wanted to travel slightly further afield, the Sandstone Trail offers magnificent views over Cheshire and beyond, and Delamere Forest provides the chance to ‘Go Ape!’, hike or cycle through the county’s largest area of Woodland. North Wales and Snowdonia are also within a couple of hours drive if you’re looking for more of a challenge!

Aside from outdoor activities, Parkgate and Heswall are both located perfectly for day trips to both Liverpool and Chester, both being within a 40-minute drive from the properties.

Liverpool has changed dramatically since its 2008 European Capital of Culture status, with an abundance of shops, theatres, museums, bars and restaurants, many of which pride themselves on being independently owned. It is a large city with a heart and soul to match, and whether you’re a Beatles fan or not, is has so much to offer.

Chester is a beautiful, small but bustling city. With a fabulous offering of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions, it oozes historical interest and is well worth a visit, particularly on a fine day where it is easy to explore by foot or boat along the River Dee.

For families there are further activities to consider. Within a few miles of the properties are Chester Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium, Boulder Hut climbing centre, Crocky Trail Outdoor Adventure Playground and Flip Out trampoline park, to name but a few. There are also several indoor play centres, the largest being Bubbles World of Play in New Brighton. This seaside resort also has a vast, sandy beach, the UKs longest promenade (just over 2 miles), adventure golf and many family friendly restaurants.

We hope this gives you some insight into the surrounding area. In each of the properties we have enclosed a number of leaflets from many places of interest, so please take a moment to study them. We’re sure you’ll find something for everyone! We feel extremely lucky to live in such a beautiful, vibrant, but unassuming part of the world and really hope you enjoy your stay in the Wirral.
